CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAM

The Child & Youth Program is designed to assist the children who reside in the Shelter to cope with violence which they have witnessed and the dislocation associated with leaving their home. The program provides individual and group counselling and support services to children. While children are in the shelter with their mothers, assistance is provided with school placement, parent relief, parenting support, recreation, as well as meeting personal needs with clothing, school supplies, birthdays and other necessary activities. Time limited groups for children who have witnessed woman abuse are run in co-ordination with Haldimand-Norfolk R.E.A.C.H. Self-referrals as well as referrals from other agencies are accepted for these groups.
