The rhubarb plant, originally native to Asia, is now cultivated in many parts of the world. This plant grows best in deep,
fertile, well-drained soils. The edible leafstalks, commonly used in the preparation of preserves and pies, contain a
combination of naturally occurring acids including ascorbic acid, or vitamin C.
