Rice Plant

There are several thousand varieties of rice, all belonging to the family Gramineae. Almost all species of rice require very moist soils throughout most of their growing season. Rice is currently cultivated extensively throughout parts of Asia, Africa, and South America. The United States, southern Europe, and other regions of the world also contribute significantly to the total world production of rice.
