Gooseberries

There are about 60 species of shrubs called gooseberries growing throughout the northern temperate zone of North America and Europe. Their berries are often used for making jellies, jams, and pies. The American species serves as an intermediate host for the white pine blister rust, which can do considerable damage to pine forests.
