Common to the Long Point area are the Spicebush (Papilio troilus), Eastern Tiger (Papilio glaucus) and the Eastern Black Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio polyxenes asterius) an maybe a rare glimpse of the Zebra Swallowtail may be enjoyed. The large wings and long “tails” of the swallowtail butterfly are characteristic of many species in its family, as is its contrasting light/dark coloration.
