There are approximately 150 species of caddisflies in North America. All species may be found in and around ponds, lakes, and
rivers, where the adults lay their eggs and the aquatic larvae develop. Caddisfly larvae spend all their time enclosed within a silk
tube of their own production. Although most caddisfly larvae feed on plant material, some species capture and devour minute
aquatic crustaceans as well as other aquatic insect larvae.
