Anas platyrhynchos

Call

The mallard is commonly found in much of the northern hemisphere. Although ranging throughout North America, this duck generally winters from the Gulf Coast states southward into central Mexico. It is considered the most important game species throughout its range. In addition to being quite prolific, the mallard is known to interbreed with the pintail and black duck.
