Hermit Thrush

Hylocichla guttata

Song

Noted for their song, thrushes include a wide variety of birds very similar to warblers and flycatchers. They are social birds, foraging and roosting in flocks, although a mating pair may defend a nest year-round. Thrushes forage mostly for small insects and animals on the ground, completing their diet with fruit. The hermit thrush, Hylocichla guttata, is one of the more remarkable representatives of the mostly woodland-dwelling North American thrushes. A much wider range of forms exists in Asia and Africa.
