Limosa haemastica

An uncommon shore bird, found mainly in the central migratory routes, from Mexico to the Artic, although it is sometimes spotted on Long Point, as the above photo shows, which was taken at Long Point. It is identified by a bold black and white tail pattern and while in flight it's axillars are black and the wing linings are sooty.
