Common Gallinule

Gallinula chloropus

Call

The common gallinule has dark brown plumage and a short, bright red bill that extends onto its forehead as a leathery protective shield. The bird is found on all continents except Australia and, as a waterbird, tends to inhabit marshes and grassy lakeshores.
