Indigo Bunting

Passerina cyanea

Call

The indigo bunting, is actually a type of finch that lives principally in bushy habitats of the eastern United States. The male, pictured here, wears the beautiful blue plumage that gives the bird its name. In the winter, however, his coloration matches the female's dull brown. Indigo buntings migrate to southern Mexico and Central America for the colder months.
