Bufflehead

Bucephala albeola

Call

The bufflehead is a North American species of duck that nests principally in the wooded areas of Canada and the Rocky Mountains. The name derives from its oversized, buffalo-shaped head. The male bufflehead, above, has a black back and head with large white patches behind its eyes and a white underside. The female bird is dark brown in color.
