Chianti Grapes

Chianti grapes were developed from the European grape, Vitis vinitera. Despite the European grape’s widespread distribution, many botanists believe that it originated in the Caspian Sea region of Asia and was subsequently transported by wind, water, and birds to other areas. Cultivated for thousands of years, it has been hybridized with other grape species and transplanted around the world.
