The sewn text-block is then rounded at the spine, backed with cloth and paper, and is now ready for the new boards to be attached.Note: the use of four boards per volume. The bulk of these text-blocks require thicker boards, so the cloth tapes and backing cloth flaps are sandwiched between two relatively thin boards.This method of construction is called 'split boards'. |
