FINDING JOHN KEATS dramatizes Canadian writer Raymond Knister’s discovery of the heart and mind The complete play is available for download |
||
Introduction In the spring of 1929, Canadian writer Raymond Knister set out to find the heart and mind of English poet, John Keats, in order to write a biographical novel about him. Keats was the young man of whom critics said, “No other English poet would rank as a major poet if he had died at the early age of twenty-five, as Keats did.” FINDING JOHN KEATS stays true to the final understanding of the poet that Knister came to, after arduous and exhaustive research of Keats and his relatives, friends, and contemporaries, through their letters, literary works, and biographies.
