Rainbow "Steelhead" Trout is a western species with many local forms. These large trout average
2 to 5 lbs. and may occasionally reach 40 lbs.
Most species of trout live in fresh water, inhabiting many lakes and streams of northern regions. Native to fresh waters
in the western United States, the rainbow trout has been introduced widely throughout the world. The species has
become a popular game fish both for its delicate flavor and its fighting spirit.
