Northern Pike

Esox lucius

The northern pike, related to the smaller grass pickerel and chain pickerel and the larger muskellunge, is native to the cooler lakes and rivers of North America and Eurasia. Highly predatory and growing to an approximate size of 1.4 m (4.5 ft), the northern pike feeds on aquatic water fowl, small mammals, amphibians, snakes, insects, and fish including other pike.
