Family Percidae

For the identification of this species, all in this family have two anal spines. Their beautiful food value has a political influence in Long Point Country. Many towns have Yellow Perch on their restaurant menus. The commercial fisherman covets this fish and the price it brings in per pound and is highly regulated by government agencies. Recreational fishing abounds as this fish provides food on the table as well as entertainment during the summer months and in the sport of ice fishing.
