Darter

Etheostoma

Long Point Country is home to the Greenside Darter (Etheostoma blennioides), Blackside Darter (Percina maculata) and the Logperch (Percina caprodes).

The Darter is related to the freshwater perch, sauger, and walleye pike. Darters are found in North America, where they live in shallow streams and the shallow riffle areas of larger streams. They feed on aquatic invertebrates, insect larvae, and fish eggs.
