This will be our 4th CITO event and our 5th organized clean up. This year again we will be cleaning up at Black Creek.
The event will be on Sunday April 24th from 10 am to 2 pm.
As some of you may know this area belongs to the Long Point Regional Conservation Association. Over the past few years they have been more then happy to supply bins and some help in getting the area cleaned up. They have also developed a respect for what geocachers do and how we treat the land we use.
However even with our best efforts we have not been able to keep ahead of those people out there that look at this place as their personal dump. This past fall, although it be late fall the area was gated off from public use. This was a sad day for a lot of people not just hikers but boaters and fisherman and many others. How ever after reaching out and talking with LPRCA they will be opening the area back up for the season. They have mentioned many times how much they appreciate what we Geocachers do.
Again as last year good boots and perhaps some work gloves. We will have a few extra pairs of gloves on hand, latex gloves also, and few other handy tools and things but feel free to bring what ever you think might help. We will also have bottled water for those who would like some, Garbage bags will be supplied and most likely there will be a bin on sight to put them in. We are still working out the little details so keep an eye open for up dates as our day gets closer. Look forward to seeing you all, stop bye lend a hand, stay as long as you like, it is up to you. We will be there well before hand on Sunday and for sometime after the fact. There are trails to hike, a boat ramp and fishing area all open for you to explore. There are lots of neat animals in the area that call this place home deer, beaver, and all those wonderful forest dwellers we can expect to see along the trail.
